Why is my Apple iBook freezing up?
I just got a pre-owned Apple 12.1″ iBook G4 laptop for chistmas. Its hard drive was cleaned and was put on Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iLife. It has a PowerPC G4 1.07 GHz processor. 256 mb of ram, and a 55 GB hard drive. When running programs such as iTunes, GarageBand, looking at System Preferences or playing a DVD the coputer will suddenly freeze. You can’t move the mouse or do a force quit. You can only do a hard shut down. You then have to wait about 10 minutes to restart, or it will come up with a blue screen. What is causing the problem? Thanks in advance for any answers.
That’s the built-in RAM and not nearly enough for such memory hogging app’s. Install another gig of RAM and they should work fine. =)
