can some one help me? i Have a problem with my ibook?
i just got this ibook g3 and i reset it to factory setting, when i updated all its software it resterted and asked for my user name and password i entered them and it didnt work. so i decided to turn it off now when i turn it on it doesnt let me log in it shows a command window an it says -sh-2.05b#
what do i do. please help
Don’t spend too much time studying the iBook troubleshooting article. This issue is not related to your computer being an iBook. This is an OS X issue.
When did you do this “reset it to factory setting” thing? If it was just in the past few days, start over. Erase and install. That will fix it.
The sh-2.05b# prompt is called “single user mode” of the base UNIX operating system. If it keeps starting into that, then OS X is faulty. You could spend a few hours trying to determine exactly what part of OS X is faulty and then some more time fixing it, but why spend that much time? Already you are spending a day or two with no use of this computer. If your data is backed up (must be if you did “reset it to factory setting”), why fiddle around? Just do the erase and install again. And this time, write down your password as soon as you choose it.
If you actually did not do a complete erase and install, but did some other form of “reset it to factory setting”, and are afraid of losing data, try some of the suggestions in the article below.
